When Nicholas Prince reluctantly attends the Cup Final at the famous Wembley Stadium with his old friend Bernard Newman, neither anticipates the game to be quite so eventful. When a bookmaker collapses abruptly and dies, Prince suspects foul play and vows to uncover the truth.
Prince, born Prince Nicholas Vladimir Boris Alexander Suvarov Obrenovitch, is in fact a distant cousin of the Russian Tsar. Having spent various years in the Italian, French and Canadian police forces as a legally stateless man, he was spotted for his immense talent and recruited into the F.B.I., where he took up American citizenship and quickly rose to a high rank.
Although the coroner declares death to be from natural causes, Prince recognises a most clever case of murder, and with the help of his old friend Newman, he makes it his mission to find and expose the killer.
